ABOUT

I'm an Interior Designer by day, style enthusiast by night / weekend.

If you asked the seven year Elizabeth what she wanted to be when she grew up she would have replied "Interior Designer".  My mother interpreted my constant need to update my bedroom as my future life passion and I am so glad she did.   I went on to study Interior Design at Brigham Young University - Idaho.  Currently, I am working for a high end interior design firm.

In collaboration with my love of design is my appreciation of great style and wardrobe.  I have had always had an affinity for fashion, waiting patiently for the September Issue and not being a afraid to take some risks.  I'd like to think my personal style is east coast meets west coast.  My mother spent her youth in the east and she introduced me to classic prep: Ralph Lauren, stripes, and a great loafer.  I was born and raised in Southern California (with a brief stint in the Chicagoland area), which adds a casual, bohemian influence to my style atheistic.  Also, I have a great love for historic fashion: flapper girls, mad men area, and touch of 70s.  I see clothes as an creative outlet and style is always evolving as we go through different phases in our lives.

Recently, my husband and I purchased a 1922 brick bungalow in Salt Lake City, UT.  I am excited to create residence that we plan to live in for many years to come and share our experience updating each space.  I will be sharing our journey in bringing our little house back to its original glory and sharing the history behind it.

And if you're wondering where "This Modern Liz" came from, here's the story.  A long time ago, I wanted to deep (lol) Tumblr blog name.  I really wanted thismodernlove, which is song by the British band, Bloc Party, but sadly it was already taken.  I switched Love for Liz and there you have it.  It's been my online persona ever since.

So that's me.
